Production Enablement Failure emails from Salesforce

Related to: Salesforce Spring '25 Release Updates

Posted: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Email subjects:

  1. ATTENTION: Production Enablement Failure

  2. Your Salesforce Release Update Enforcement Was Unsuccessful

WHAT IS IT?

You may receive an email from Salesforce with either of the subjects above during their Spring 25 release which is taking place over 3 separate weekends in February 2025.

The detail of the message relates to the failure of the Salesforce update to apply the new ICU locale formats for dates, times, currencies, etc, due to at least one of the components in the Org being below API version 45.

HOW THIS IMPACTS YOU?

This is related to Salesforce's Release Update "Enable ICU Locale Formats" and if you have received this email the Org that is referenced will continue to display dates in the old JDK format, rather than the ICU format.

All other upgrades to Salesforce Spring '25 are unaffected as far as we are aware.

WHY THIS HAS HAPPENED?

On 6th February 2025 Salesforce issued a statement which advised that the criteria for upgrading from JDK to ICU had changed from requiring only the components that refer to dates, currencies, etc, to be on API version 45 or above, to requiring ALL components in the org to be on API version 45 or above.

SuMo Spring 25 edition (version 8.71) has been developed to conform to the guidance given prior to 6th February, so there are components in our package that are on API versions below 45.

We are aware that this is a problem that affects others as well - including Salesforce themselves - who have the following known issues:

CloudApps have tested this feature for the past 5 years and we have not experienced any issues.

ACTION THAT CLOUDAPPS ARE TAKING?

Salesforce's current documentation states that it is possible to manually enable this specific feature in the event that it did not get enabled as part of their Spring '25 release.

However, it is not explicitly stated whether the conditions for upgrading manually are those from Salesforce's new guidance (requiring all components in the org to be on API version 45 and above), or from their prior guidance (requiring only affected components to be on API version 45 and above).

Update 13/02/2025 - Salesforce Support has confirmed that the ICU update can be applied manually after any failed attempt during the Spring '25 upgrade.

Subject: Enabling of Salesforce Winter '21 Release Update

Posted: Wednesday 7th October 2020

Product: Sumo (All versions)

Description: It has been identified in the Salesforce Winter '21 platform release that when the Enable Secure Static Resources for Lightning Components update is enabled in an org, the Sumo user interface will no longer be displayed correctly. This is due to the change in the way in which Salesforce serves all static resources (e.g. Images, Style Sheets, JavaScript) which are utilised by many of the components in the Sumo application. Prior to this update, static resources were served from the Lightning domain, however, this update forces static resources to be served from the Visualforce domain. As a consequence, the Sumo components will no longer be able to access the static resources from the Lightning domain, causing them to no longer display correctly. This issue was acknowledged by Salesforce in the following Known Issue:

Action: There are now no issues after enabling the Salesforce update Enable Secure Static Resources for Lightning Components, as long as the org's instance is on at least Winter '21 Patch 12.0. To confirm this, see the Salesforce patch release document.
